PARKWAY FACES EARLY TEST WITH A SOLID CALVARY TEAM

- Josh Lozano reporting on the Panthers for JAWS.
Parkway vs. Cavalry Pregame Summary

Parkway Panthers are gearing up for their season opener against a veteran Cavalry team in a highly touted non-district game. Parkway manhandled them at home last season with a final score of 55-13.  Things might not come so easily to the Panthers this year with the crucial loss of 35 seniors.  When asked what the biggest offense threat on the Cavalry’s roster is, defense line Coach Brian Rayner responded, “Their running back Orlando Baker. He likes to run the ball east to west and is very fast. Making sure to wrap him up early in the run game is very important. Halting Cavalry’s running game early is going to be vital to a win.” The Panthers plan to rely on an overall defensive effort to hold Cavalry; however, forcing them to pass against their lockdown secondary would be a plus.

Offensively, Parkway’s biggest question mark is how to replace All-American QB and LSU signee Brandon Harris.  Junior Keandre Wudtee may be getting his first official start, but he already has plenty experience under his belt.  Wudtee has gotten an ample amount of “garbage minutes” with Parkway steam rolling through their opponents last season. Expect a strong performance from running back William McKnight after good outings against West Monroe and Haughton in early preseason scrimmages.
