The night started
out with the Benton student section full of students dressed in black to Black
Out the North DeSoto setting a great start to the Tiger’s victory against the
North DeSoto Griffins this Friday. During the first quarter the team scored a
pass from sophomore, John Thompson, to junior, Dorsavion Williams. The pass
scored the Tigers the first touchdown of the game against the Griffins, giving Benton a six point advantage for the game. After the touchdown
Senior, Jordan White kicked the extra point to give Benton a hold of 7-0 score
against North DeSoto. Following White’s kick the first quarter came to an end
with the scoreboard remaining at 7-0. During the halftime show Benton’s Tigerline
performed an astounding dance to Justin Timberlake’s Suit and Tie followed by
the band’s performance that sent the crowd to an overwhelming frenzy of cheers
and applause.
When the second quarter came around the Benton offense fell back almost letting the Griffins score but the team came back and pushed the Griffins back past the fifty yard line. The game remained mainly defensive. Benton pushed the Griffins back and they pushed back.
Throughout the remaining quarters the score remained 7-0 but the student section remained just as lively throughout the whole game keeping the team pumped and ready for the end. At the end of the fourth quarter the Benton Tigers enjoyed the victory celebrating with friends and family on the field and closing the night with a prayer. Everyone from the middle school students, to the high school coaches, faculty, students, cheerleaders, dance line, band and players gathered around the center of the field and gave thanks for an amazing night and many more to come.
