Don’t Call It A Comeback!

- Jaylin Goree reporting on Captain Shreve for JAWS.

Captain Shreve strikes again!

Both teams came in strong, battling head-to-head, with everything in them. The first quarter ended out with both Captain Shreve and Northwood having nothing on the board.

Nearing the end of the half, Northwood’s Delaney made a 13-yard touchdown, meaning Northwood now held the lead. However, after a failed Falcon kick, Captain Shreve had just enough time to let Chad Usry make a 40-yard field goal. Even though the kick was good, Northwood held their 6-3 halftime advantage.

Heading into the final quarter, the Falcons led 19-10 and things started to look dim for the Captain Shreve Gators. (Don’t worry we never actually lost faith.) Lewis came through clutch with a 2-yard scoring run after Shreve’s 76-yard drive. The score now stood 19-17. (They ain’t done yet.)

Charles picked off a Northwood pass by Valeras at the 43 and after 13 plays with two minutes to play on a 1-yard dive, Vencent Gonzales gave the Gators a 24-19 lead. This score stood giving the Gators their second win of the season.

Will there be a 3-peat at next week’s homecoming game? Find out next week when the Gators take on the Mansfield Wolverines.
